Yesterday, the kids husband and I got to go see his half sister in the hospital. She just gave birth to a beautiful little boy. Our kids had never met her or her oldest son. y husband was adopted at a young age and was separated from his siblings. He was just reunited with them about 2 months ago. Here are the pictures of the baby and the kids meeting their aunt and cousins for the first time.

Oregon Coast- June 2013 Day 1

I made it to the beach to be with my hubby, however, he's been super busy with his stuff. I'm ok with it. I got in around 7:30 last night and was able to spend a few hours on the beach taking pictures. It was so pretty. I don't know if you all know, but cameras can't pick up the same spectrum of light that the human eye can... you know that beautiful salmony-pink color that fills the sky during sunsets? Do you ever wonder why the picture is NEVER the same as you see it? Well that's because your camera can't see it. Too bad, isn't it? You can try and recreate that color during the editing process but it is NEVER the same. So, with that said these are the images I captured. I think they're very pretty, but they still don't do any justice to how beautiful it was on the beach last night. I hope you enjoy.

I understand these are all pretty much the same thing. I'll be heading out today too to capture some of this Oregon beauty.

I have been missing work at my full time job due to massive migraines. Well, maybe it's all been meant to be, because it's forced me to put some extra time into my photography business. I've been very busy with promoting. To start off I've been more active on my facebook page, I designed new post cards (haven't purchased them yet, but working up to it), I've also posted an ad on Craigslist. And I added a few more posts here on the blog.

With all the facebook posts I've increased my audience by about 600 people, and had 9 more likes in the last two weeks. Which is great, because it's been sedentary for MONTHS! Yay! I also offered a few free shoots and that will of course help with a portfolio as well as creating good relationship with potential clients.
In doing so, I got to do my first newborn shoot. I also scheduled a few maternity shoots and newborn shoot from one of those ladies. Let me say, I'm SOOOO EXCITED!

And then the Craigslist ad got me a PAID gig for a wedding. That's right! I'll be photographing my very first wedding on July 4th. I'm excited to do some fun holiday themed pictures as well. I'm so excited for the future of my business. Keep checking back for all my photos. Today I'll be heading to the beach to spend some time with my husband, so keep your eyes peeled for some awesome beach pictures too.

yay for my first new born shoot!

I was super nervous for my first new born shoot, BUT I DID IT! I just went with it and I had so much fun. I gave it out for free so that way there would be no disappointment if everything wasn't perfect. I'm so glad I did because it took off the extra pressure. I feel like it turned out great. Here are some samples! Tell me what you think?!

 

A gift to me for my birthday!

Woo Hoo!!!! I have two photo shoots scheduled for tomorrow! I'm so excited! It's my birthday, so I've decided to give away a free new born shoot, and I've also scheduled a maternity shoot! I'm super SUPER excited to play with a baby!

Just went to target to pick up a new basket and bean bag chair for props and posing. Pictures will come soon! EEEEK! Stay tuned

As I grow into Photography!

With each photo shoot I do I can see my growth in the quality of the photos. Practice makes.... strength? Quality? Self esteem? Perfection? No, not perfection. The beauty in photographing people is that we're all perfectly imperfect.

Here is my latest photo shoot. I've been waiting to post them, because I needed to get my watermarks on everything and that hasn't been my number one priority. *Gasp*  I know, I actually have to work my other 3 jobs and keep a roof over my head. *Sigh*... If only there was more time in the day...

On a side note, I haven't TOTALLY broken my new years resolution. I did pass out marketing items and I have done some promotional things and I'm still working on promoting more. Every day there is an opportunity to promote yourself... I really just need to stop with the excuses and take my camera out every single day and do what I love. We all need to make more time for the things we love. My birthday is coming up in 5 days and I'm really thinking of telling everyone that I don't want to  party or go out (I haven't really partied in 4 years or more), I want a PHOTO SHOOT! And everyone needs to dress up in their very best stuff and we'll find a cool industrial location to take photos! Isn't that an awesome idea?!?!?!?!
